Let the Oppressed Go Free

1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and shew My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of Me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God.

3 Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and You see it not? Wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and You take no knowledge of it? Behold, in the day of your fast you find pleasure, and exact all your labors.

4 Behold, you fast for strife and debate, and to smite with the fist of wickedness. You shall not fast as you do this day, to make your voice to be heard on high.

5 Is it such a fast that I have chosen? a day for a man to afflict his soul? is it to bow down his head as a bulrush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? wilt thou call this a fast, and an acceptable day to the LORD?

6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?

7 Is it not to deal your bread to the hungry, and that you bring the poor that are cast out to your house? when thou see the naked, that you cover him; and that you hide not yourself from thine own flesh?

8 Then shall your light break forth as the morning, and your health shall spring forth speedily: and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the LORD shall be your reward.

9 Then shalt you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shalt cry, and He shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of you the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall your light rise in obscurity, and your darkness be as the noonday:

11 And the LORD shall guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought, and make fat your bones: and you shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

12And they that shall be of you shall build the old waste places: you shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and you shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.

13 If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shalt honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words:

14 Then shalt you delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause you to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob our father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

What will happen in the end of Days as we know it to be Now?

The Patriarch Jacob started to tell his sons what would come in the end of the era while on his deathbed. But instead gave each son a blessing. Here is what he saw. What do you think it means?

In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:

We have a strong city; God makes salvation its walls and ramparts.
Open the gates that the righteous nation may enter,

the nation that keeps faith.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,  for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal.
He humbles those who dwell on high,
    he lays the lofty city low; he levels it to the ground
    and casts it down to the dust.
Feet trample it down— the feet of the oppressed, the footsteps of the poor.

The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.
Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; Your Name and renown
    are the desire of our hearts.
My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you.
When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
10 But when grace is shown to the wicked, they do not learn righteousness;
even in a land of uprightness they go on doing evil and do not regard the majesty of the Lord.
11 Lord, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it. Let them see your zeal for your people and be put to shame; let the fire reserved for your enemies consume them.

12 Lord, you establish peace for us;  all that we have accomplished you have done for us.
13 Lord our God, other lords besides you have ruled over us, but your name alone do we honor.
14 They are now dead, they live no more; their spirits do not rise.
You punished them and brought them to ruin;  you wiped out all memory of them.
15 You have enlarged the nation, Lord; you have enlarged the nation.
You have gained glory for yourself; you have extended all the borders of the land.

16 Lord, they came to you in their distress;

when you disciplined them, they could barely whisper a prayer.
17 As a pregnant woman about to give birth
    writhes and cries out in her pain,
    so were we in your presence, Lord.
18 We were with child, we writhed in labor,
    but we gave birth to wind.
We have not brought salvation to the earth,
    and the people of the world have not come to life.

19 But your dead will live, Lord;
    their bodies will rise—
let those who dwell in the dust wake up and shout for joy—
your dew is like the dew of the morning; the earth will give birth to her dead.

20 Go, my people, enter your rooms
    and shut the doors behind you;

hide yourselves for a little while until his wrath has passed by.
21 See, the Lord is coming out of his dwelling
    to punish the people of the earth for their sins.
The earth will disclose the blood shed on it;
    the earth will conceal its slain no longer.
